'Lazy, Hazy, Summer Days' Boden SS14 Pressday

On 6th November London looked like this.....grey and drizzly...but....

....a little ray of sunshine was beaming down on Somerset House and inside Summer reigned supreme with ice-creams, candy floss, sand and most importantly beautiful Spring/ Summer 14 clothes from Boden.
Boden has certainly pulled out all the stops for colour, pattern and print when it comes to their SS14 collection. Inspired by the Great British Seaside they have recreated a delicious mix of ice-cream colours, deckchair stripes and 60/70s shapes along with a pop of neon to add an exciting twist.

Being a big fan of Boden, but mainly for my kids, I did not know whether I would be keen on the SS14 offering, however, their new collection has so many items you can style up to make your own. I am a super casual dresser with a penchant for clashing colours so this collection worked for me. The designers have trawled antique fairs for inspiration for their prints and it works, the prints draw you in. Next SS14 we are going to get more daring with clashing prints, florals with stripes, ditsy patterns with spots (believe me we will!) and Boden have most definitely captured this trend with their Spring Summer collection.
Think brightly coloured shorts with a spot jumper. Ditsy floral print trousers with a breton top (Boden do fab Bretons..I have three!) Chambray shirts with a neon pink floral skirt and neon pointed shoes. Floral blazers with floral shorts and breton tops. However, if you are not so bold with clashing you can take one patterned element and mix with a fine knit jumper in a beautiful ice-cream or block colour. Or mix a monochrome stripe skirt with a spot shirt as below:

Here are a few of my favourite pieces:
This floral print is beautiful, incorporates so many colours so is super versatile. Wear the trousers or top separately dressed down with denim (denim shirt with floral trousers, jeans/denim shorts with top) or wear together to create an impact, would be fab for a summer wedding with neutral heels.
I adore, adore the vibrant neon colour of this skirt, it is full, knee length, nipped in at the waist and is definitely on my list to buy. Boden had styled this with a pale blue chambray shirt and neon orangey-pink pointed flat shoes..it looked beautiful.
I adore these abstract floral trousers (hanging next to the green jumper) I would wear these with a denim shirt and little pump trainers in the summer. Or match with the green fine knit jumper.
This vibrant pink and red cardigan will look stunning in the summer over a pale grey T-shirt and skinny jeans.
As you are all aware I am a big fan of pink and adore this pale pink cardigan, it would look fab thrown over a little denim dress in the summer, or wear in the spring with a grey cashmere scarf and a pair of boyfriend jeans for a laidback slouchy look.

Now for a sneaky peak at Mini Boden Spring Summer 14 *heart melts*!!

Again, keeping to the theme of the seaside Mini Boden was all ice-cream and beautiful pastel colours punctuated with blues for the girls and beautiful bold appliques on T-shirts. I always buy a little capsule collection for both my kids each season as the clothing is gorgeous, fabulous fabric, they wash well and honestly last and last! They are the main items of clothing I can pass down to little nephews. Boden often have 15%/ 20% off at the beginning of the season so it is always worth keeping an eye out for seasonal reduction..I will and let you know on my blog.

So there is a little taste of Summer, the Boden SS14 collection really was a 'breath of fresh air' in a wet, cold London. Roll on summer.....we are ready for you!!
