Winter to Spring Layering...

1.11.2015

Style Theory: Winter clothes always become a little boring this time of year, jumper, jeans and boots on repeat. The way to overcome this is to layer, take some summer items mix them with your winter staples, like leather leggings and a roll neck, add a few colour clashes and voila a whole new look...

Polo neck: Esprit £24.99
Skirt: Topshop similar here
Coat: Marks and Spencer similar here
Leather Bag: Aurora Living 'Willow' bag £59.50
Shoes: Hobbs Betty Court £69
There are plenty of layering items on the high street that will keep you toasty in the colder months. It is all about the keeping the under layer as neat as you can to not add too much bulk...
H&M Breton top £12.99
Wear your breton under a thick poloneck with the sleeves pushed to show the stripe details..
Or layer skirts over leather look leggings like I did above...
Next Leather Look Trousers £28
For a chic look keep colours neutral mixing blacks and grey and textures, fringes and faux leather....

Get the 70s vibe with a skinny poloneck, this can be layered underneath a large chunky sweater or under a tunic dress..
Topshop Fine Gauge Roll Neck £32
Or layer under a khaki shirt for a pure Spring/Summer 15 look...
New Look Khaki Long Sleeve Shirt £22.99
To create a look like this...

Finally pop a fur gilet over your jacket to keep you extra toasty..
New Look Faux Fur Gilet £45
This faux fur gilet looks so much more expensive that £45. Wear now over a biker jacket or denim jacket and as the weather turns a warmer wear with a blouse underneath and skinny flares for a cool 70s look...

Add colour to you outfit with a deep plum coloured bag clashed with a pink scarf..or go for an orange bag with a leopard print scarf..the options are endless..

Are you a little bored of your winter clothes yet, are you layering up to add a little interest during this cold January?

As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, next time I am beginning the search for a dress for my 40th birthday party (it's my birthday on 13th eek!) I am thinking maxi or maybe a jumpsuit but would love to go through the options with you to see what you think..thank you so much for reading and as always I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions, Frances xxx

  1. Love that colour on you Frances. Tbh I've come to the conclusion that I don't do winter dressing very well. It's all about keeping warm, sod the style. I should take a leaf out of your book. I'm not sure what you should go for but it would be lovely to see you in colour as oppose to black as you do it so darn well x
