The Best High Street Hits to Shop Now...tried and tested..

9.06.2017

Style Theory: After nearly 7 weeks of not being near the shops I broke free today...dropped the kids at school and dashed into Kingston. I was there on 'official business'..(well, kind of) had to do a little bit of research for a brand I am working with however, whilst I was there I couldn't resist trying on some absolute gems. A few pieces of clothing to add to your Autumn wardrobe that will add a touch of colour or luxe fabrics. All not super expensive but all a little special in their own way...

I popped into Massimo Dutti, I have not been in there for a while but as I am really desperate for newness, to see something a little different I thought I would see if they had anything of interest. These tops are not exactly 'out there' but are really beautiful on. They are incredibly versatile and would be perfect for work with tailored trousers (my fave trousers for fit, cut and fabric are always Me+Em) or they work just as well with jeans and trainers. I would also wear them out in the evening with my boyfriend jeans and heels..
Massimo Dutti £45.95

This is the lightest, most comfortable fabric, I love the arm detail although not sure how I would iron the arms as they are a kind of puff ball shape?! It is a super flattering shape and would look gorgeous as a work or as a casual top, this is a size 36 so it does come up a little big as I am normally a size 38 (uk 10 in Massimo Dutti)

Massimo Dutti £54.95

This is a size 8, I sized down one size, you would have to wear a flesh coloured vest top underneath (M&s have great ones) I do love a square neckline it is so flattering and the voluminous arms are great to make your body look slimmer! A beautiful top for now, it will look great under a navy blazer with jeans and loafers.
Sweater - Massimo Dutti £74.95
Skirt - Massimo Dutti £79.95

Sweater - Massimo Dutti £74.95
Skirt - Massimo Dutti £79.95
I am slightly obsessed with knitwear and every Autumn I love finding one or two super cosy pieces, this is one on my list. I sized up to medium for a slouchy fit and the pleated skirt is beautiful on it will look amazing with tan boots and a black poloneck in the winter.

Then onto my favourite shop at the moment &Other Stories..they just seem to get it right at the moment where other high street shops are slightly off the mark..

&Other Stories £45

A super cute top for the schoolrun/weekend. It is a little short but is fine with 'mom', slightly high waisted jeans, a cute throw on top, great with jeans and stan smith trainers..
&Other Stories £69

Love love this sweater, it is so up my street..frills and pink, not too tight (I am wearing a size medium but am going to buy a small as it does come up a little large - I am normally a medium in &Other Stories knitwear) A perfect colour pink and a really useful jumper, if you are a little daring wear with red trousers and boots for a showstopping look.

&Other Stories £165

This fake fur coat is going to be a real high street hit, it is so glamorous and over the top I love it! It is huge (this is a size 6) so size down at least one size.
&Other Stories £79

I have mentioned this top before but I just love it, it will look great under a navy blazer now with jeans or a beautiful work blouse with navy trousers and red mid block heels. It is true to size, this is a 10.

Finally a quick stop off at H&M , I was drawn in by the red...
H&M £49.99

This dress is just gorgeous, it is so comfortable on, it looks great over skinny jeans as a long top/jacket style look, it has pockets and looks far more expensive than it is. It has a kind of Volturi (out of Twilight!) look about it.. weird but cool. It comes up big, this was a size 8 and was still roomy (I am so not a size 8!)
H&M £99

This is the most beautiful coat, 100% wool and the perfect shade of red. Size down it is huge..this is a size 6 and I think I need it for Autumn!!

So there is a quick round up of some of the gorgeous things that I saw in the shops today for Autumn, red and pink are still leading in the colour trends with mustard yellow playing a big role. However, I still love a beautiful winter white jumper and some elegant blouses to wear on evenings out or to work meetings, it makes me a feel a little more 'pulled together' even if most of the time I am anything but!!

I hope you all had a good start to September, it is an exciting time, loads of new trends, delicious comfort food and not having to wear a bikini!!

What are things are catching your eye this season so far, as always I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions, until next time Fran xxxx

  1. Hi Fran. Great post. I love the jumper from Massimo and have had it ing basket for about 2 weeks so am really pleased to see how lovely it looks on you. It looks slightly Ganni. Online the sizes are 10,12 etc. I am size 10 and was going to order that size but want a loose fit. Would th recommend a 12? I also love &other Stories at the moment. They have a midi black dress new in that I have my eye on. Thanks x

  2. Yes, completely understand them. This was a size 12 I was wearing but it was really quite big and long on the arms (I had to turn the cuffs back) so I would probably go for a size 10 as it seems quite a slouchy fit anyway xxx will have to check out the midi dress! xx
