The hoody is back...

Hoody - Topshop £35
Coat - Maje £239.50
Jeans - J Brand Selena @Shopbop £155.41
Shoes - Gucci Marmont £495

Style Theory: The hoody is back..again. With sports luxe remaining a trend leader, hoodys are making their way to the forefront of fashion. With streetsylers at the fashion weeks pairing down their looks, juxtaposing feminine floaty skirts with hoodys or dressing down statement coats with a hoody underneath. It is being propelled from gym gear back to streetwear...

It is the perfect item to dress down a dressed up look, so versatile wear under your smart coats with ankle length trousers or jeans and a pair of statement shoes, anything goes..be brave and have fun with it and most of all it is one of the most comfiest items of clothing..
If you do have not have one lurking with your gym gear or at the back of the wardrobe, here are the best on the high street starting with the one I have just bought..
Topshop NYPD Hoody £35

I bought the medium as I like my sweaters to be oversized, this is the perfect snuggly hoody for daytime or evenings out.

Topshop Cheer Squad Hoodie £35

The perfect layering hoody, perfect for under a tighter jacket, a biker or blazer.

Topshop Supersoft Hoody £26

For a softer, prettier take on the hoody, pair this sweater with dark reds for an edgy look.

H&M Marled Hoody £14.99

A good basic, inexpensive hoody.

Nike @NetaPorter £50
I love the collar of this hoody at the front it is a little different, a little more interesting than the basic hoody and the colour is fab. wear with a floral maxi skirt and trainers.
Asos Story of Lola Sequin Hoody £75

I do love a sequin and think they can be worn at any time of the year not just at Christmas, this is the perfect 'sports luxe' piece. Wear with a breton, jeans and trainers for a cool look.

Asos Hoody £18

A perfect basic hoody, looks fab with shorts or wear under your statement fur coat.

Are you a hoody fan, do you still have a few stowed away at the back of the wardrobe or are you like me and wear them in the evening with your PJ bottoms? Time to dust them off and wear them with your smart looks..fashion could not get any comfier!!

As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Frances xxx

Earn Your Stripes....

Top - M&S £45
Skirt - Navy London (love this one)
Bag - Village England
Trainers - Golden Goose (similar here)
Style Theory: With the emergence of all things 90s comes the re-emergence of the tracksuit in all it's All Saints glory. 'Never ever' did I think I would be wearing this look again but as a fan of all things comfortable this trend slots perfectly in my wardrobe.

There are a few key ways to work this trend to make it 2016 relevant, here are a few styling ideas..
  • Take one item, for instance the stripe track trouser and wear with a tailored top, add a victoriana blouse, a pussybow shirt or silk blouse to juxtapose against the relaxed look of the trousers. Add a pair of trainers (Stan Smiths still rule for me, they look so laid back cool and are unbelievably comfortable) or for an evening out wear pair of mary jane heels (keep footwear low-key)
  • When wearing a sports/training jacket wear with distressed boyfriend jeans and add a pair of heels for a night out, leopard print always works well.
  • Try mixing a sports jacket with an overly girly skirt, they look great with full length boho style skirts or with a tulle skirt, be brave go for it, it's fun when you wear something a little different. See below the Chloe look..adore this..

Now for the best on the high street..
    Topshop Stripe Detail Top
Love the electric blue colour, it will look fab with skinny jeans and trainers for a laid back look. Throw over a boho dress for a SS16 look.
    Topshop Rib Detailed Track Top
A super cool 90s look I love the dark red with the orange tape on the arms. A retro jacket that will be incredibly useful this spring and summer and will add colour to your wardrobe.
    M&S Zipped Sports Jacket
This is the jacket I have, it is quite a subtle take on the track top and I have worn it loads already. Perfect popped over denim dungarees with trainers or layer underneath a navy/black or red coat for a cool look.
    Asos Adidas Original Track Top
Going back to the real 90s original, I had this is the 90s at university and wore it all the time. I am tempted to buy again, it looks fab worn quite neat with boyfriend jeans and heels.
    Me+Em Luxe Crepe trousers
For me, Me+Em are leading the way this season for side stripe trousers. They are not cheap but tailored beautifully, are super flattering and made with high quality fabric so they fall perfectly. Track bottoms can be fairly unforgiving so I am loving a nod to the trend but in a luxe way. These crepe trousers will look fab with Gucci-esque loafers or with a pair of heels.

    Me+Em Side Stripe Trouser
Completely understated, these trousers look fab with trainers, add a victoriana style blouse and a pair of tan sandals for a super cool and slightly edgy going out look.

    Topshop Contrast Piping Jogger
A good basic jogger, I think I would stick with trainers with these joggers and a fine knit, contrast with a pale pink knit for a girly take on this look or with a navy J Crew Tippi style sweater.
    Asos Adidas Originals Track Pant
Ok so I obviously would not wear these with a crop top..eek or not sure about the heels with this style. I would stick to trainers and a fine poloneck knit with these now.
Asos Luxe Contrast Side Stripe Jogger
These are a fab, well priced luxe jogger, they will look gorgeous with a blouse and tan sandals, or in the summer loving the look with sliders and an off the shoulder top.

Who knew the 90s would come around again so quickly, I must admit the 90s trend is my comfort zone, so easy to wear and style. I am loving the idea of caps again..or maybe with my 41 year old face maybe I should give them a miss?

Are you a fan of the track top/pant look, will you be dabbling in this trend or do you still have your tops and trousers from the 90s? As always I would love love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Fran xxxx

    January Pay Day Treats

Style Theory: January is a lonnng month so what better way to make it a little better than a little payday treat. Here is a few items I have my eye on that will brighten up this rainy January and February..
    Cici Clothing Top £52
This is top of my list and a top I will most definitely be treating myself to this. I love the peplum detail, the clash of the red and pink and the cute buttons on the collar. It is cotton polyester mix and hand wash (eek) but it feels super comfy on and hides a tummy perfectly. The top is also available at Topshop Oxford Street but unfortunately not online from Topshop just Cici Clothing (link above)
Cos - Knitted Top with Contrast Skirt £59
Another peplum top, this time it is a black knit with a cool skirt detail. This sweater looks fab with skinny ankle length jeans (either black or blue) and heeled boots or trainers. It is a beautiful twist on a plain black crewneck and just a little more stylish.
Self Portrait - Off the Shoulder top £170
A slightly more 'spendy' option, I have been stalking this top for a while and it has just come back into stock, no doubt will sell out again soon. It sits beautifully off the shoulders and is a truly decadent top made with lace and crepe de chine ( it will hang beautifully on) It would look amazing with black cropped kick flare jeans and heels for a stunning 'night out' look.
    Self Portrait @Net a Porter £170
Another top I have had my eye on for a while, this is a beautiful lace top, a step above my other tops, beautifully finished around the neck with gorgeous details like the buttons on the cuffs. It looks beautiful on and will see you through the year, wear now with a chunky cardigan and jeans, in the summer wear with denim shorts and flat tan sandals.
    Topshop Victoriana Lace Top £45
A slightly more affordable version of the top above, it looks gorgeous 'in real life' quite vintage looking and would be the perfect addition to a Spring wardrobe.
Baukjen - Bartley Leather Skirt £164
I have this skirt and absolutely adore it, it is made of the softest leather I have ever felt, it is a great length (sits on my knees) and can be so easily dressed up with a blouse, opaques and heels or dressed down with trainers and a grey t shirt. I love mixing it with different tones of pinks for a cool spring look as I did for a meeting below..

    Ph via Noholita
Since I saw this photo on Noholita's instagram I have been looking for a pair of grey trousers. I spotted the trousers below in Topshop but did not have a chance to try them on, I have ordered them so will let you know if they are slouchy enough to create the look above. If not, I tried on the Mango trousers below and they look pretty good so I will order these as well and compare the two..
    Topshop - Mensey Trouser £40
    Mango Pleat Trouser £49.99
    Nike Cortez @Office £61.99
My current trainer obsession, cool, practical and very Spring 2016..
    Asos Dolly Bow Trainers £25
A cheaper version of the Ports 1961 trainers below (they are super cool but at £300+ a huge investment for what is, essentially, a fashion look)
    Ports 1961
    Now for the slightly random...
Mini Pyramid Terrarium @Urban Outfitters £25
I adore these terrariums, they look cool on a shelf/bedside table and the copper adds cool colour to your room. You plant hardy plants in them (cactus etc) so they are completely low maintenance and look fab, a little mini garden at your fingertips (they make a great present)
Lime and Bay candle The White Company £20
This smells utterly gorgeous, it will being a beautiful candle light and fragrance to your home through these cold, dark months..
Liz Earle Skincare Essentials Kit @John Lewis £45
If you are like me, your skin looks pretty dull at this time of year. I am pretty late to jump on the Liz Earle bandwagon but I cannot believe it took me so long. I was bought this Liz Earle set by a lovely friend for my birthday and I adore it. It makes my skin feel clean, refreshed and rejuvinated. It smells amazing, very natural and is super light on my skin. I am a Liz Earle convert..

So a little random list of things that I would love and have also brightened up my January (my birthday in the middle is a big bonus) Have you treated yourself to anything this January, have you got anything on your January payday treat list?

As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Frances xxxx
