The 2014 Boho look......

Style Theory: Summer Boho.... Romantic, laid back, neutral colours in fluid fabrics, clothes that are comfortable and look cool. Think broderie anglais, gentle frills, natural fabric.....

The boho look had been around forever, re-surfacing in the 90s with Kate Moss and Sienna Miller leading the renaissance at 90s Festivals and parties. This year Boho on the high street is heavily influenced by Isabel Marant. Slouchy, laid back tailoring in pale pinks, nudes and whites, tops have transparent panels and feature lace and frills, skirts are no longer ankle length but shorter, cuter fluted edges. These fluid looks are to be worn with distressed jeans/jean shorts and add an edge with a pair of killer heels or statement sandals. Like winter and spring it is all about juxtaposing the slouchy with tailored.

Here is some inspiration from the Streetstylers:

  1. I can't wait until summer now! What lovely starting ideas. As a mother of 2 very young children who lost her 'fashion way' slightly after they were born, you have helped get me back on track and helped me to enjoy clothes again. Thank you! I adore your red m and a shoes; is there any chance you could provide a link for them if they are recent and online? Thank you v much.

    1. Soooo helpful! Thank you! Off to check those link out now. Katherine x

  2. Love this look and for me the tops are a great way to incorporate this trend. I love the black one you feature here, and I love your first press day outfit, what is it with me and black? Have fun in Barcelona Frances, I went last November but that was to take my son on the Stadium tour, I'd prefer a relaxing weekend xx

    1. I am a big fan of these tops too Sharron, love them and have my eye on the black one also. Black is my 'safe' colour, I love it! Both my sisters live in Barcelona so we are all very excited about seeing them and the kids and also checking out the beaches...maybe I will be doing the boys Stadium thing in a few years!! xxx

  3. I love your h&m shirt, but can't see it online. Do you know if it's still available? X

    1. Hi, it seems to be no longer online but I did see it last week in my local H&m store, I think it was £9.99 or £14.99 it has some tiny fringing detail on the arms and back, hope you find one xxx

    2. Thank you. Looks like im going to have to go shopping then! x

    3. All sold out in my local h&m. Apparently they were very popular! X

  5. Love the boho look for Summer! I've found some great tops in H&M and Zara that come out every year to wear with jeans and shorts. All we need now is some sunshine so we can start recreating some of these looks! xx

  6. Always love a bit of summer boho and a pretty blouse! Just want it several degrees warmer now so it feels like bona fide summer.

And I was looking at the sandals that you've picked and wondering which colour to go for and I think you've swayed the tan for me. Love the heel detail on them. Now I just need to wait another month before H&M deliver them ....

    1. I do love those sandals they kind of do the shoe boot/sandal thing in one and are flattering on the ankle. I know H&m delivery is sloooow I am still waiting for a skirt I ordered 5 weeks ago! Xx

  7. When summer arrives I will be well and truly embracing the boho look. H xx
