More High Street Hits....All Tried and Tested..

10.12.2017

Style Theory: It is all very well shopping online but sometimes it is great to try things on, see how they fit, do you need to size up or size down, is the fabric any good/too clingy/too static. Over the last couple of weeks I have been trying on a few things that have caught my eye and here are some stunning high street pieces that are on my shopping list or I have already bought..

The Checked Trousers

A great addition to any Autumn/winter wardrobe, checked trousers are comfy and look great on, the perfect alternative to jeans. Just style with a black jumper (I love black cashmere round necks jumpers - I have this Marks and Spencer one that I love) and add a pair of trainers or if going out somewhere smart wear with heels.

These are the best checked trousers I have tried on so far. They have slight pleats at the front but are not too bulky and are a good length on me (although I did roll them up once) They have touches of yellow and pink through them so would look great with a pink jumper but I think I would wear them with a black cashmere sweater and I love the idea of them with (faux) snakeskin heels for going out and a pair of trainers for casual. I am wearing a size 10 so I would say these are true to size.

I love the bow detail at the front of these,  they would need to be worn with a finer knit or blouse that could be completely tucked into the trousers. Not the best style if you have a tummy like me! These I would say are true to size (I am wearing size 10)

The Knitwear

It was only a matter of time before I had this jumper in my shopping basket..frill neck and pink, it is a great comfy weekend jumper with a twist. Wear with leather leggings and trainers for a cool look, this is a size 12 I like my knitwear slouchy!

Apologies for the rubbish snap, this is a screenshot from my Instastories, I forgot to take a photo. I love this top, it is a mesh fabric that is fairly see through but I think you can (just) get away with just wearing a nude bra underneath. I love the print, it is beautiful and the fact that it hides a tummy perfectly and is just one of those perfect 'going out' tops. Wear with ankle length jeans, dark red satin sock boots (Zara have the best ones!) and a navy blazer...just beautiful. I am wearing a size 10 - it is pretty true to size.

This blouse is a great way to dabble in the cord trend without going full on cord trousers. Definitely for the more flatter chested of us as there is quite a lot going on at the front. I am wearing a size 8 this comes up big so size down. I love it with 'Mom' jeans and flat ballet pumps..the full on Princess Diana look!!

The Dresses..

This dress is expensive but it really is lovely on, the crushed velvet is beautiful and I love the gold embroidery, it looks quite designer-esque. This is a size 36 - it give you a great waist, if, like me you lack one!

Chic, a really easy dress to wear, it would look great with tan, leather, knee high boots and a biker jacket. I put the velvet belt from the dress above on it to cinch in the waist a little, again this was a size 36 (true to size)

Jackets and Coats

This is the most beautiful, dare I say 'jazzy' jacket. It will look fab over a basic white tee with jeans and white Stan Smith trainers. For an evening out wear buttoned up with a black silk camisole underneath, simple add a pair of heels for a fab winter look.

Military coats always look so chic, paired back with leather leggings, a chunky, roll neck jumper and a pair of heeled boots the coat looks utterly elegant and classy..love how Emmanuelle Alt has styled hers below..

The Shoes and Boots..
Dorothy Perkins £22.50

I had to buy these shoes the moment I set eyes on them (via Belle and Bunty) they are the most beautiful shade of pink and look fab worn with a jumper and jeans. They come up a tiny bit big but no need to size down a whole size.
M&S £35
M&S £35
Carrie Bradshaw eat your heart out...these are the most fabulous Manolo-like shoes I have seen in a long time and for £35?! M&S does it again, I think I adore this blue colour the most, I would pair with everything from jeans to midi dresses to a full on Carrie moment with a tulle skirt..
Topshop £89
Definitely the boots of the season, these Topshop ankle boots are back in stock and are perfect to wear with floral dresses, they toughen up the look, or wear with ankle length jeans and oversized jumpers..so 90s but also so 2017!

A little round up of what has caught my eye over the last 10 days or so, I love this time of year, Autumn and Winter clothes are my faves, slouchy knitwear, jeans and comfy boots are what A/W is all about, add a few florals dresses into the mix and a pair of checked trousers and you have 2017 wardrobe perfection.

What have you bought so far this season, have you invested much in Autumn/Winter? As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Fran xx
